Third International Ayurveda Congress
First International Congress of Complementary
and Integrative Medicine in Public Health
12 – 15 March 2018 — Rio de Janeiro
The growing demand of the Brazilian population for the formulation of policies aimed at the institutionalization of the integral therapeutic approaches and the resources used in the Unified Health System responds to the discussions held in national forums such as the National Health Conferences and international conferences such as the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) to Member States.
The Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health (PICS), designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as Traditional and Complementary Medicines (T&CM), were institutionalized in the Unified Health System (SUS) through the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC), which includes guidelines and institutional responsibilities for offering services in Homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Anthroposophic Medicine, Naturopathy, Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapy, Social Therapy/Crenotherapy, Reiki, Yoga, Art Therapy, Biodance, Circular Dance, Meditation, Music Therapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Reflexotherapy, Shantala and Integrative Community Therapy.
